Target Field

Target Field, home to the Minnesota Twins™, recently added a new VIP area called “CATCH”. The premium space provides great views of the field and a variety of tapas-style foods. An immediate hit with fans, CATCH was sold out for 2016 season.

To control access to the VIP area, the Twins called on its long-time access control partner, Alvarado, to provide product options for equipment that would control access into the select area. Many of the fans enter using digital tickets, making it necessary for the Twins to implement a better scanning solution for the digital tickets than the previously used handheld scanners.

After consultation with Alvarado and the Twins ticketing partner, Tickets.com, the Twins selected Alvarado’s intelligent admission pedestals and custom wall attached scanning devices to control access into the CATCH area. Fans self-scan credentials at the pedestals and wall mounted devices to quickly and easily gain access to the VIP area. The Twins are so pleased with the ability of Alvarado devices to validate digital tickets that they used pedestals at half of their facility entry points with the second half planned for installation next year.

Typhoon Texas Waterpark

Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy, Texas opened in April of 2016 using Alvarado’s TAS12-EDC intelligent admission turnstiles and GateLink10 admission software to provide access control at its entry gates.

The installed TAS12-EDC turnstiles validate both bar coded tickets as well as RFID wristbands, providing fast throughput for the facility. Alvarado’s GateLink10 admission software controls the turnstiles and integrates with CenterEdge, Typhoon Texas’ ticketing partner.

The TAS12-EDC’s modular design allows the turnstiles to be field upgraded as the facility’s functionality requirements change. For example, after the initial installation, Typhoon Texas rolled out Alvarado’s season pass photo comparison system, which required a TAS12 scan head for both patron and attendant use. To implement the upgrade, the facility simply installed another TAS12 scan head for the attendant using pre-drilled attachment holes.

Alvarado also assisted Typhoon Texas with front gate layout, operational planning and RFID band testing.

Typhoon Texas was so pleased with the performance of their access control system, that they installed Alvarado’s new TAS12-EDM Turnstiles with motorized rotation at their newest location in Pflugerville, TX. The new park opened on Memorial day 2017 and they couldn’t be happier with the new installation.

Simonds Stadium

Less than 50 miles southwest of Melbourne, the Australian port city of Geelong is where you will find Simonds Stadium, home grounds for the second oldest Australian Football League club, the Geelong Cats.

Like many Ticketmaster® facilities, Simonds had previously used Ticketmaster’s handheld scanners to control entry into the stadium, with attendants scanning tickets at the gate. Looking to improve the entry process, Simonds Stadium wanted an upgraded access control system that could accomplish two goals: to allow patrons to easily self-scan entry tickets and credentials and also to provide an effective crowd control barrier. The solution also had to be compatible with Ticketmaster Australia’s ticketing software.

Alvarado is a Ticketmaster Certified Partner, both in the U.S. and around the world. Leveraging this partnership, Alvarado worked closely with Simonds and Ticketmaster Australia, to provide layout and design assistance based on the gate admission requirements. Alvarado’s TAS12-EDC intelligent admission turnstiles were selected to control the physical flow of patrons into the facility and provide a high throughput self-scanning solution for patrons. Implemented in conjunction with Alvarado’s GateLink10 access control software, the TAS12-EDC integrates with Ticketmaster’s ticketing and access control software. The Simonds Stadium access control upgrade was a success. The Alvarado intelligent admission turnstiles control access and the product’s superior scanning capabilities provide fast and reliable validation of entry credentials.

The solution was so effective that, in 2017 (one year after the initial installation), Simonds installed Alvarado’s new TAS12-EDM turnstiles with motorized rotation at their new entry gate.

1300SMILES Stadium

1300SMILES Stadium, located in North Queensland, Australia, is the home facility of the North Queensland Cowboys National Rugby League® Club.

In conjunction with the renewal of the stadium’s ticketing system contract the ticketing supplier, Ticketek, wanted to upgrade the stadium’s admission system. Among other things, Ticketek wanted a much better scanning solution for digital tickets, as well as real-time system reporting capabilities. Due to budget limitations, the existing turnstiles needed to be utilized and Ticketek wanted to avoid the expense of a wired communication infrastructure.

Ticketek turned to its long time admission partner, Alvarado, for a solution.

The facility installed Alvarado’s GateLink10 access control software and Alvarado integrated its TAS12 scan head with the existing turnstiles. To reduce installation expense, the TAS12 devices communicated to the GateLink10 application over the facility’s modern wireless network, using the less crowded 5 GHz frequency – known as 802.11a.

With the installation of the Alvarado system, 1300SMILES Stadium enjoys a reliable access system that provides high level scanning of entry credentials, improved throughput and real time system reporting. The Alvarado system integrates fully with the Ticketek ticketing system.
