California Proposition 65

Proposition 65 is a California law meant to notify California residents of potential exposure to chemicals that the State of California has determined present a risk of cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. There are more than 900 listed chemicals including some that can be found in everyday items such as consumer electronics, coffee, fish, soaps, alcohol, dyes, epoxies, plastics and metal. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law and California has clarified that a Prop 65 warning is not the same as a regulatory decision that a product is “safe” or “unsafe”. Rather, Proposition 65 is a “right-to-know” law. Alvarado provides the following warning to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65).

While products sold by Alvarado may not contain listed chemicals or contain listed chemicals at levels below that requiring a warning, Alvarado provides this warning to ensure compliance with the statute.
