Advantages for venues
The TAS12-EDM gate admission turnstile is one of our latest generation of Alvarado intelligent admission products. The TAS12-EDM works seamlessly with Alvarado’s widely used GateLink10 admission control software. Backed by over 15 years of development, GateLink10 is installed in hundreds of facilities, including some of the world’s largest stadiums. A DirectConnect API, which allows direct communication between third-party systems and our intelligent admission devices, is also available.
The TAS12-EDM supports superior real-time validation of printed and digital 1D/2D barcodes, RFID/NFC and other types of media. Other available functionality includes entry/exit validation, operator assisted entry using dual display/scanning devices, and the printing of seat locator slips, receipts and coupons during the entry process.
A major feature of the TAS12-EDM gate admission turnstile is that it allows guests to self-validate entry credentials. Guest self-scanning of credentials is becoming increasingly popular at venues because it provides many benefits over hand held validation terminals, including faster throughput and superior digital barcode scanning – even in bright sunlight.
Allowing guests to self-validate credentials also greatly reduces the handling of customer phones, as well as attendant and guest frustration when printed or digital tickets don’t scan. Our equipment puts the focus back on customer service. One of our clients put it best, “guest self-scanning liberates our attendants to become customer service ninjas.”
Intuitive and comfortable for guests
Guests find the TAS12-EDM gate admission turnstile very intuitive. A bright color TFT touchscreen display provides clear visual instructions to patrons. To provide further guidance, after validation, the turnstile arms increment forward approximately an inch to prompt the user that passage is now possible.
The gate admission turnstile’s motorized drive system provides a smooth, controlled and nearly silent rotation. Alvarado’s intelligent closed loop drive system improves guest comfort and passage safety. Our precise rotation control allows a user to start the motorized rotation with just a touch of the horizontal turnstile arm. As an added benefit, the TAS12-EDM’s extended arm length provides a very comfortable passage width for patrons.
Superior barcode scanning
The turnstile also provides superior barcode scanning. A strategically placed, best in class, 1D/2D barcode imager provides near instantaneous validation of printed and digital barcodes in all types of environments – even bright sunlight.
LED’s on the rear of the device notify attendants of presented credential status (good/bad) and identify when special tickets, such as a child, senior or VIP, are presented. The graphics on the front display are user customizable and can include advertisements. The turnstile supports many other admission functionality options, most of which are conveniently controlled and implemented from the GateLink10 server.
Benefits of the automated drop arm
The TAS12-EDM’s drop arm design facilitates quick and easy patron exit after the event. The turnstiles can be powered down, which drops the horizontal arm, providing a clear passageway. A “drop arm” command can also be sent from the GateLink10 server to drop the horizontal arm of any or all turnstiles. Once power is restored, or a “reset arm” command is initiated, the arms automatically return to the normal operating position. The turnstile also has a dedicated fire system input if required by local fire codes.
What can be added to the gate admission turnstile?
The thoughtful modular design of the TAS12-EDM provides many options to customize operation for individual facilities.
A highly responsive RFID/NFC reader can be installed under the turnstile lid. If a facility desires to utilize RFID/NFC in the future, every TAS12-EDM is factory prepped to allow field installation at a later date.
A 2nd display/scanning device can be added for entry/exit validation (or attendant assisted entry application using the touchscreen included with every display).
A high speed printer can also be integrated in the turnstile to allow printing of coupons or seat locator slips. For some venues Alvarado prints unique identifying graphics on seat locators to allow ushers to quickly identify whether a patron is allowed access to clubs or special areas inside the facility.
To facilitate moving the gate admission turnstile within the facility, TAS12-EDM’s can be installed on portable baseplates with wheels that raise and lower with a foot pedal to allow easy movement. Our optional wireless communication (802.11a, b-n) outperforms the often spotty communication provided by many handheld terminals. Portable turnstiles can be AC powered using a secured, plug in power cord, or the TAS12-EDM can be battery powered. Our advanced battery system provides over 10 hours of continuous operation under a full load, even if a printer is used.
